We got a good snow show in the past week and with couple of snow days under our belt, We are ready to officially welcome Spring on Monday! Before that, March 19 is our regular Balvihar class.
 

Thank you to all the families who joined us for HTS Balvihar Bowling. It was a great turnout. A special thanks to Jiteshji, Rana Family, Veerisetty Family and Sridhar Family for their support. A massive thank you to Purvi Bhojani our fabulous Assistant Director, who single handedly arranged the venue, found sponsors for breakfast items and not to forget popcorn! You are a Star!

A festival of contemplation.

During the Vigil Night of Shiva, Mahashivaratri, we are brought to the moment of interval
between destruction and regeneration; it symbolizes the night when we must contemplate on that which
watches the growth out of the decay.
During Mahashivaratri we have to be alone with our sword, the Shiva in us.
We have to look behind and before, to see what evil needs eradicating from our heart,
what growth of virtue we need to encourage.
Shiva is not only outside of us but within us. 
To unite ourselves with the One Self is to recognize the Shiva in us.

Hope you and your family had a fun time playing in snow! It finally feels like Lehigh Valley in February! Last class we had a fantastic time celebrating Indian Republic day. Thank you to Ansh Malik and Siddhant Khandelwal for a wonderful musical performance for all of us.

The India Quiz was a fun experience. It made us all rack our brains and learn something new. Congratulations to all the twenty students of Balvihar who won "Glow in the Dark" Headphones. Hope you are using your prizes proudly!

HTS HYA
HTS Hindu Youth Association (HYA) is organizing its annual Parent Appreciation Day (PAD) on Feb 25th. PAD is an event managed by the teenagers of HYA. They plan, execute and implement the evening dedicated to the parents.

HTS Balvihar is the foundation of our children and HYA is the phase where our kids learn to use all their learning from Balvihar into real life. The  President of HYA who is also a Balvihar Teacher, Aman Malik will be informing us about Parent Appreciation Day during Satsangh.

If any Balvihar student wants to perform musical, dance, arts or any other talent that they have for their parents, they are welcome to approach Aman. Parent appreciation day is on 25th February 6-9 pm. Dinner will be served. Rsvp required.

HTS Holi 2017 Cultural Program
 

Hindu temple Society Holi Program date has been finalized for May 6th 2017 at Saucon Valley High School. If your child is age 6 by January 2017 and you are interested in having them participate then please email : Htsprogramdirector@gmail.com to register.

If your child has performed last year then you should have received an email from their Choreographer by now. It is one of the best events in Lehigh Valley and with your support and encouragement it will remain so! Thank you.

26th January is 68th Independence day for India. To honor this occasion, we will dedicate our Satsangh time on 29th January 2017.

We will have a quiz and prizes!! Topics to read upon for the quiz are : 

• States of India =  Their names. Cities.

• Languages of India.

• Leaders of India = Freedom Fighters, Scientists, Social Reformers, etc.

• Rivers of India.

• Indian Flag.

Please wear the colors and combinations of Orange White and Green if you wish to show pride in your Indian heritage! We will sing Indian National Anthem and American National Anthem to mark our Indian American patriotism. Thank you.

Happy New Year! 
Now that the Christmas trees are coming down, we are back in to our regular schedule Including the first Balvihar class of 2017.

Our Diwali to Christmas Toy drive was very well received and appreciated by Lehigh Valley Hospital. This initiative is a relatively new concept at LVHN, Families of patients pick a present to take to their child. Our contribution adds to the options. You may be interested to know that because of our toy drive, the Lehigh Valley community was able to know more about the program that LVH runs during Holiday season. We requested the Local News Channel WFMZ 69 News to shed some light on our participation and this coverage helped more people find out about such community partnership. 

We thank all the families who donated toys and made this possible. Dhanyawaad to Makwana Family, Nalajala Family, Nava Family  Chinnakaruppan Family and Purani Family for their presence at the hospital. We all chanted Aum for a few minutes to spread positive energy for the healing, their families and the staff.

The students who were on WFMZ 69 news - Armaan Makwana, Suhani Makwana, Navneeth Nalajala, Vishnu Nava, Neeraj Nava, Uma Purani and Aum Purani : Thank you for representing all the students of HTS Balvihar.

On 8th January morning 10 am,  Sumedhaji will introduce us to Suryanamaskar.  A very invigorating way of starting the day. Instead of doing this at Satsangh time - noon, we will do this the first thing during Balvihar, so please bring your children on time. Please dress in comfortable clothes so that you may participate in Suryanamaskar.
