We are inching in towards our final class this March. Hope you bring your sharp and bright minds to Mandir on Sunday and Shine!
We will be taking Group Pictures so please get your Balvihar hoodies out and ready! In order to make sure that we get all students in, we will be taking them at 12:05 pm in the assembly hall. Please make sure that the students leave only afterwards. These pictures will be used for our yearbooks.

Satsangh: Last week's session on how to treat life in a holistic manner was a great hit with students. We implore parents to attend this conclusive session with Shri. Sohamji to see how our students respond positively to his talk. It is interactive, happy and helpful atmosphere. These 10 minutes will bring a relief to not only the kids before standardized testing season begins, but also for the parents who carry the burden of these hectic schedules on their shoulders!

We are on a roll! With our collective energy, we are invoking spring like atmosphere in our Balvihar! If you can come early to Mandir, you may get the benefit of doing Jal Abhishek to Shiv Bhagwan. It helps you become one with the Supreme spirit. Aum Namaha Shivaya. 9:30 - 9:45 am.

In the coming classes, few of our teachers are sending messages to the classes to dress in Balvihar Hoodie for class picture. Please make sure that you respond to that so that our yearbook picture has a full capacity class with beaming smiles!

After our morning mantra, Students of Hindi class will call out to our inner strength with the classic song "Hum ko Mann ki Shakti dena" Please be punctual for the morning assembly so that we may start our Aarti on time. 9:45 - 10:10 am.

Satsangh: The current news has highlighted a chronic situation affecting students and families. There is a cost to the high expectations that we put on our children. Is it worth it?
There are mindful measures that can be taken to make sure our course vector is on a right path. Our Religion 5 Teacher Shri. Soham Pathak will help us navigate these waters. Noon to 12:10 pm.

Namaste,

Happy International Women's day. This Sunday, we get one extra daylight hour. Weather will be 55 degrees. We will see some snow mixed with rain. Let us start our week with a soul charged Sunday!

Shout out to the Volunteers of Balvihar Prasad fruits and Balvihar Snacks. This group of parents is regularly taking turns to make sure that things run smooth! We thank you.

We look forward to see similar enthusiasm for the volunteer Seva from all Balvihar parents.

What a fun filled Balvihar Bowling last Sunday! Thanks to our amazing Purvi Bhojani for her hard work, planning, implementation and delicious brunch! Two and half hours of family time and laughter because every Balvihar parent becomes a loving volunteer!

Satsangh : Bharat. Our blessed land. We will talk about what makes a country so dear to its citizens that songs, poems and literature has been dedicated in its glory. Why invasions of other cultures did not shake it in the past. Awareness of its richness will keep it secure for its future.

The weather is catching a break after a slew of snow days! We have Balvihar Class this Sunday from 9:45 am till 12:30 pm. As Maha Shivaratri is on 4th March, We are delighted to invite Telugu students to sing Bhajans in the praise of Lord Ganesha, Ma Parvati and Lord Shiva. Hope to see you all early birds with your eager minds and souls.

Before we wrap up year 2019 Balvihar year, we have only 4 more classes to go, it is imperative that homework, study assignments and attendance are followed.

Satsangh : To mark our respects to Pulwama Soldiers we will hold a 1 minute chant of Aum mantra. Please join us. If you want to donate to the fundraising for the soldiers families, we will collect checks written to HTS with memo : Pulwama Soldiers. Priest Anandji can also help with credit card donations to the same.

We got a good feel of the polar vertex in the past week and with that a couple of snow days under our belt. As the legend goes we're in for an early spring, since Punxsutawney Phil could not find his shadow.

Reminders:
Please pickup your ordered Balvihar hoodies.
Also, Balvihar Bowling is on March 3rd at Town and Country Lanes in Bethlehem, PA. If you haven't already signed up and are interested please contact Purvi.

Satsangh : We are thankful to the Makwana family who are celebrating Suhani's 13th birthday by treating all the students and teachers of Balvihar. To honor their wish, Balvihar Cafe will be serving either Plain, Cheese or Masala Dosa with Sambhar and Chutney. A token will be distributed to all students and teachers, which will then be redeemed by giving it to Anu Auntie or Raj Uncle. Please take 5 minutes to go to basement to collect the lunch.

Balvihar Cafe : Each Balvihar Child will receive one Dosa, cupcake, Sambhar and Chutney. Kindly collect a token at Satsangh before you redeem it at the cafe.

Happy Lohri, Pongal, Sankranti, Uttarayan! The days following Jan 14th are considered as auspicious. They help our bodies and minds to start getting acclimated to the increase in Sun's light on Earth. It might be confusing for us in Lehigh Valley as mid January - March usually indicates peak snow season! However the traditions and foods of Sankranti are very healthy, generate heat and energy. Sesame, jaggery, cane sugar, nuts. This is exactly the kind of food that is needed for our bodies to push through the shoveling, gloves and flu season.

So in the next few weeks, load up on all that is good for your body and soul and join us at the temple this Sunday for a much needed start of the week recharge!

Snow Cancellations : If we encounter bad weather on account of freezing rain, Snow or sleet we will consult on the weather by the prior Saturday night on local news and send out emails just like these to your email account. We will also inform the teachers so that they may send you a back up text. If you do not hear from us then please know we have classes. Kindly make sure that you are in communication with us via any or these methods to make sure that our weather alert gets to you on time.

Satsangh : We will continue our tradition of offering Suryanamaskara at the start of Balvihar session 9:50 till 10:00 am as we have done in the past few years. At HTS Balvihar, we have always strive to come up with innovative ideas and welcome people who serve the community. Smt. Sumedha and Shri. Paresh Kashalkar are one such couple who have guided us in this routine for past few years. We thank them and HSS for their time, efforts and enthusiasm to bring the benefits of Yoga to our community. Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh has undertaken the initiative of Suryanamaskar Yagna. We hope for such positive ideas to flourish and multiply.

Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) integrates simple Yoga postures in 10-steps that, along with easy breathing technique, can provide immense health benefits to both the body and the mind. A set of ten yoga postures provides good exercise to the whole body, calms the mind, and sharpens the intellect. It can be done anywhere, by anyone of any age, irrespective of faith and beliefs.

Balvihar Cafe will be closed on January 27th due to HTS scheduling. Thank you for your understanding.

Happy New Year. Now that the Christmas trees are coming down we are back in to our regular schedule including the first Balvihar class of 2019.

Our Diwali to Christmas Toy drive was very well received and appreciated by Lehigh Valley Hospital.We thank all the families who donated toys and made this possible.

Satsangh : We are thankful to the Misra family who are celebrating Raghav's 8th birthday by treating all the students of Balvihar. To honor their wish, Balvihar Cafe will be serving either Plain, Cheese or Masala Dosa with Sambhar and Chutney. A token will be distributed to all students, which will then be redeemed by giving it to Anu Auntie or Raj Uncle. Please take 5 minutes to go to basement to collect the lunch.

Diwali To Christmas Toy Drive Drop Off Dec 18th 5pm

Our Annual Diwali to Christmas Toy Drive 2018 will meet at Lehigh Valley Hospital lobby at 5 pm.

We will take few calm minutes to chant Aum in the lobby and pray for the healing, the families of the patient and the staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital. This should take us no less than 10 minutes.

Any family planning to drop the gift wrapped toys at the hospital are welcome to join us there! We welcome all HTS Balvihar kids and their friends to join us in spreading cheer and joy!
