Namaste,

Did you know that singing spontaneously releases endorphins which are the feel-good chemicals in your brain? Playing harmonious music can relax the blood pressure for you and your family members and even your pets!
We are encouraging all students to practice the  "
Janmadin Geet - By Swami Tejomayananda"  that has been so popular on all social media. This will help us to wish all the students, family members and Teachers at Balvihar whose birthdays are around our Balvihar days! This will not only give all the students the connection to our culture but also the feeling of community when they sing or get celebrated on their birthdays!
It is a short, beautiful and happy ditty that is quite easy to learn! Let us continue this new tradition after Mantra and Aarti! All students are required to attend morning Mantra and Aarti. So please encourage your family to be up and ready for the gathering by 9:30 am.

SatSangh :

HTSBalvihar is introducing a Family Contest for our Balvihar Families! Please join in at noon to find out the details. Kindly use the same link as the morning assembly.

Congratulations to all the 10 students who won Navratri Quiz during our last Satsangh. We have not received an email from all 10 Families as requested. Please reach out to us at HTSBalvihar@gmail.com before Nov 2nd in order to receive the gift card. Our emails to the winners will be sent on Nov 3rd. If we do not receive an email from the parents we will not be able to confirm and do the needful from our side. Thank you.

Namaste,

Happy Navaratri Celebrations to our Balvihar Families! In these 9 evenings, we pray to Ma Durga, Ma Saraswati and Ma Lakshmi to bless us with health, peace and progress! In our homes we have women who represent power, knowledge and prosperity. Let us offer our respect, gratitude and admiration to them. Our Daughters, our Mothers, our Sisters, our Partners are the true power of divinity and through them we channel the Goddess of Universe Adi Shakti to bless us!

Nine forms of Durga : Every avataar has a quality and power that makes female power special :
  • ShailaPutri
  • Brahmacharini
  • Chandraghanta
  • Khushmanda
  • Skandamata
  • Katyayani
  • Kalaratri
  • Mahagauri
  • Siddhidatri
These days are powerful, auspicious and ideal for meditation. They are charged with strong vibration, so try to eat Satvik food, do Aarti in the evening and pray to Ma for collective goodness.

We will meet for Morning Mantra and Aarti and use the same link for Satsangh.

Satsangh :
One of the greatest rulers of Bharatiya land is Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We start our student presentations with our student Hridhaan Kshirsagar, who will share his insight with us. This is a great way for our students to learn about our history and culture. Do encourage the students to learn and participate.

We will have a pop quiz for all students after the presentation, the topic is Navratri!  One student from each Religion level will win a $10 Amazon gift card! Good luck. Jai Ambe!

Namaste,

We are in the last 2 weeks of Adhik Maas also known as Purushottam Maas. Adhik means more, extra. Consider this as a leap month, it is added when a lunar month ends before the Sun has moved to a new zodiac sign. It is omitted when the Sun traverses a whole zodiac sign during the course of a lunar month. The Hindu calendar year always has 12 or 13 months.

Science behind Adhik Maas:  The Moon takes about 27.3 days to make one complete orbit around the earth. The earth orbits around the sun once every 365.2422 days (= earth's orbital speed of 29.79 km per second). The earth and the moon in 27.3 days have moved as a system about 1/12 of the way around the sun. This means that from one full moon to the next full moon, the moon must travel 2.2 extra days before it appears again as a full moon, due to the curve of the earth's orbit around the sun. Ultimately this creates a variance of 10.87 days a year between a lunar year and a solar year. To compensate for this difference, the additional month is added after every 32.5 months on average. It is one of the most accurate methods to adjust the gap between Solar and Lunar Year.
It is advised to do deeds of good Karma as the blessings are supposed to be multiplied when done during Adhik Maas.

Shubhodaya :  Please use the following link to join us for our morning Mantra recitation and Aarti. Remember to have our Mantra book handy and practice all the mantras at your own pace. Read the translation so that you may get the best effect of the recitation. We will then sing Aarti for the general benefit of our family and community!

Satsangh :
HTS Balvihar has a deep connection with Swami Pratyagbodhanandaji. He was always eager to come to our Satsangh and share his cheerful insight with our students. His loving guidance will stay with us as we offer our Shraddhanjali at noon. Please use the same link as morning Mantra for Satsangh as well.

As a community, we learn together, we understand better, we share and also grieve. It is an important aspect of life of a Balvihar family. It brings us closer and makes us stronger.  Namaste.

Namaste,

We are eagerly waiting to see all of your happy, beautiful faces at 9:45 am on Sunday Sept 13th!  Make sure you have your Prarthna Folder ready so that you may recite with us. Our mic will be off, so that one Senior student can lead us.
Use page number 4-7 for the Morning Mantras. Use page number 8 for the Aarti. For Aarti, we will all turn our mic on and it does not matter if it gets chaotic, we will practice connecting to Bhagwan and enjoy this experience! You will use this link for our Morning 9:45 - 10:00 am Assembly.

Once our Aarti is offered to Bhagwan, you will have a good amount of time to check your language teacher's message and log on to the class. It starts at 10:10 am.
You will then again have a break of few minutes before you check your religion teacher's message to join the Religion class, which starts at 11:00 am.
Finally you will use this link to join us for Satsangh at Noon!

Satsangh : If the little ones are too tired to join Satsangh, that is alright. We encourage the older students and Parents  to join, so that you may ask us questions or concerns. You can also text questions in the chat box and one of the teachers can help you there.
In future, we will be using Satsangh time to help kids express their skills with music, dance, discussing a topic of interest or encourage local organizations share their information with Balvihar family. This session will usually last within 20 minutes time frame. In past we have discussed Cyber security, Yoga - Suryanamaskara on Uttarayan, Jainism, Sikhism, Public speaking, Mental Health, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi dances, Hindustani Classical music, STEAMM initiatives so that our students can broaden their horizons.

Right now, all of this may seem like a lot, We are in the same boat as you. We  want students to continue their connectivity with their culture, language and friends at Balvihar. While we do this, the fees, HTS membership donations, support the Mandir and really make a difference. So Thank you. We meet twice a month, we have 15 Balvihar Classes from September till May this year, so let us make happy, positive memories. Do not forget to thank our wonderful Teachers who are volunteers spending their time for all of us. Namaste.
